Introduction
Grade 9 is a near-α/α-β titanium alloy, with far higher strength than commercially pure titanium while retaining excellent cold formability and weldability.
Titanium Grade 9 welded tube is a lowalloy, highstrength titanium tube made by forming titanium strip and welding via continuous GTAW, then annealed. It balances strength, ductility, and corrosion resistance.

Manufacturing Process Flow
Mill-rolled Ti-3Al-2.5V strip (to ASTM B265) → slitting to width
Forming into round profile on a tube mill
Continuous GTAW with filler metal (ER Ti-3Al-2.5V) as needed, full argon back-purging
Online/post-weld annealing (controlled atmosphere furnace)
Sizing, straightening, cutting to length
100% hydrostatic pressure test, X-ray inspection of weld seam, eddy current/ultrasonic testing
Surface passivation, cleaning, packaging
