Introduction
It is a tubular product made from Ti-6Al-4V titanium alloy. It is made by longitudinally welding titanium sheet or strip. It has Grade5's high strength, corrosion resistance, and heat treatability, with a weld seam as the key structural feature.
Welded seam undergoes P+T treatment, ensuring minimal welding deformation and a clean, smooth surface.

Manufacturing Process of Titanium Grade5 Welded Tube
1. Raw Material Preparation:
Hot-rolled coils for welded pipes, surface derusting to remove oxide scale and impurities
2. Forming:
Roll forming of steel coils into hollow cylindrical shells, ensuring uniform diameter and consistent wall thickness
3. Welding:
High-frequency induction welding (HFW) or submerged arc welding (SAW) for seamless joint formation, ensuring weld strength meets standard requirements
4. Post-welding Heat Treatment:
Stress relief annealing at 600–650°C for 2–5 hours, air-cooled to eliminate welding residual stress and improve material toughness
5. Finishing:
Trimming of pipe ends, cold drawing or sizing for precise dimensions, deburring of inner and outer weld seams
6. Inspection:
Dimensional checks , Weld inspection, Mechanical testing.

Welding & Heat Treatment Notes
Shielding RequirementEffective shielding is critical. The weld zone must be fully protected with high-purity argon. Oxygen content shall be controlled to < 20 ppm during welding and maintained until the workpiece cools below 400°C .
Filler MetalUse Ti-6Al-4V (ERTi-5) filler metal. For medical applications, select the ELI grade (ERTi-5ELI).
Post-Weld Heat Treatment (PWHT)Annealing at 700–760°C with controlled cooling is recommended. This restores ductility and reduces residual stresses, particularly for critical components.
