Products Description

 

Gr1 titanium sheet is the softest and most ductile commercially pure (CP) titanium (≥99.5% Ti), defined by low oxygen/iron content. It's often called TA1 in Chinese standards and meets ASTM B265, ASME SB265, and ISO 5832-2. It excels in formability, weldability, and corrosion resistance, ideal for deep drawing, complex fabrication, and harsh environments.

 

Gr1 titanium sheet is the go-to material when maximum formability, easy welding, and superior corrosion resistance are priorities, especially in chemical, marine, and medical sectors.

What's the corrosion resistance like?

  • Excellent in seawater, chlorides, nitric acid, and organic acids.
  • Poor in strong reducing acids .
  • Galvanic corrosion risk: When joined to aluminum/steel in electrolytes; use insulation.

How to machine Gr1 titanium sheet?

  • Challenges: Low thermal conductivity (heat builds up at cutting edge) and "gummy" texture (tool adhesion).
  • Solutions Tools: Carbide or high-speed steel (sharp edges).
  • Parameters: Low speed, high feed, ample coolant (avoid chlorinated fluids).
  • Annealed material is easier to machine than cold-worked.

How to clean and prepare the surface?

  • Degrease: Acetone or ethanol (remove oils/greases).
  • Pickle: HF/HNO₃ solution (remove oxides).
  • Mechanical clean: Stainless steel wire brush (dedicated for titanium). Critical for welding, painting, or medical applications (avoid contamination).
