Manufacturing Process of Titanium Grade 5 Plate
1. Raw Material Preparation
High-purity titanium sponge is mixed with Al-V master alloy per ASTM B265, homogenized and pressed into melting electrodes.
2. Vacuum Melting & Ingot Casting
Titanium is vacuum-melted via VAR or high-purity EBCHM, then cast into cylindrical ingots.
3. Ingot Forging
Heated at specific temperatures, forged for grain refinement and slab shaping, with intermediate annealing for stress relief.
4. Hot Rolling
Slabs reheated and multiple passes rolled to target thickness under controlled parameters, then descaled by shot blasting or pickling.
5. Cold Rolling
Used for thin and high-precision sheets; cold rolled with smoother surface, annealed regularly to relieve work hardening.
6. Heat Treatment
Annealing for balanced properties; solution aging boosts strength, vacuum heat treatment avoids oxidation for key parts.
7. Finishing & Quality Control
Cut to size, finish surface and conduct full quality inspections.
