Grade 4 titanium sheet is the highest-strength grade among all commercially pure titanium alloys. It has an optimal combination of high strength, low weight and superior corrosion resistance, and is widely applied in chemical processing, marine engineering, medical equipment and aerospace industries.
Grade 4 titanium sheet is an ideal material for applications demanding high mechanical strength, light weight and exceptional corrosion resistance. In particularly, it is suitable for service in harsh industrial and marine environments.
Chemical Composition
Gr4 is >99% Ti, with higher oxygen (O) (max 0.40%) than Gr1–3, which is the main reason for its higher strength.

Packing and Shipment

1.Shipping Methods

2.Packaging Standards
Each sheet is first wrapped with moisture-proof plastic film and anti-rust paper to isolate air, moisture, and dust to ensure the titanium sheets arrive in intact condition and prevent oxidation and surface scratches.
The wrapped sheets are then placed into wooden cases reinforced with angle irons at all edges and corners.
This heavy-duty packaging structure ensures impact resistance and load-bearing capacity. It is the effective way to safeguard the products against deformation or damage during handling, transit, and loading/unloading.

What are the corrosion resistance characteristics?
Excellent resistance to oxidizing acids, seawater, and chlorides
Avoid: Hydrofluoric acid (HF), high-temperature reducing acids (HCl, H₂SO₄), and stagnant hot acidic solutions

How to process Gr4 titanium sheets?
Welding: Use TIG with 99.999% pure argon; filler metal: Gr4 or equivalent
Cold Working: Single-pass reduction ≤ 30%; anneal at 700–800°C to relieve stress
Machining: Moderate machinability; use sharp tools, low speed, and abundant coolant
Surface Treatment: Pickle with HNO₃ (30%) + HF (3%); anodize for enhanced wear resistance

What are the Shortcomings of Gr4 titanium sheets?
Lower formability than Gr1–3
Not heat-hardenable (properties depend on composition)
Higher cost than stainless steel/aluminum
Max service temperature: 400°C (temporarily up to 500°C)
Susceptible to HF and high-temperature reducing acids
