Forming: Good cold formability; hot work at 400–600°C
Welding: Use Ti-Gr2 filler; shield with argon
Machining: Lower thermal conductivity-use sharp tools, flood coolant
Joining: Weld, bolt, rivet
Tool wear: High due to low thermal conductivity → use carbide tools, sharp edges, flood coolant.
Speed/feed: Low cutting speed sto avoid work hardening.
Chips: Stringy; use chip-breakers.

Can GR2 U-profile be bent / formed further?
Yes. GR2 has high ductility. Cold bending is routine.
Avoid cracking: Ensure material is annealed.
Minimum bend radius: ~3× thickness for cold bending.
Crack causes: Inclusions, porosity, insufficient annealing.
Can it be welded?
Yes, fully weldable.
Methods: TIG, MIG, plasma, electron beam.
Shielding: Argon essential (back-shielding too) to prevent oxidation/contamination.
Post-weld: Pickling or light annealing to restore corrosion resistance.
How to prevent corrosion?
GR2 is inherently corrosion-resistant.
Avoid contact with steel / iron (can cause crevice corrosion or contamination).
Use Ti or polymer fasteners.
Ensure good drainage in crevices.
