Products Introduction
ASTM B265 is the global standard specification for titanium & titanium alloy sheet, strip and plate. Grade 5 = Ti-6Al-4V, the most widely used alpha-beta titanium alloy. UNS identifier: R56400. It is supplied primarily in annealed condition as required by ASTM B265, offering high specific strength, fatigue resistance and moderate corrosion resistance.
All thickness, width, length, flatness tolerances follow the tolerance tables inside ASTM B265. Hot-rolled plate has wider thickness tolerance than cold-rolled sheet.

FAQ About ASTM B265 Grade 5 Titanium Plate
Q:What is the difference between ASTM B265 Gr5 and ASTM F136 (Ti-6Al-4V ELI)?
- ASTM B265 Grade 5: General industrial / aerospace structural material; standard oxygen limit ≤0.20%. NOT for surgical implant use.
- ASTM F136 Ti-6Al-4V ELI: Extra Low Interstitial grade for medical implants; stricter O ≤0.13%, lower impurities. You cannot substitute B265 Gr5 for implant applications unless customer explicitly approves.
Q: Can ASTM B265 Grade 5 titanium plate be welded?
A: Yes. GTAW (TIG) is preferred. Welding must be performed under inert gas shielding (argon) to prevent oxygen / nitrogen contamination. Post-weld annealing is often recommended to reduce residual stress. Limit cold forming: Gr5 has lower ductility than pure titanium Grade 2.
Q: Is ASTM B265 equal to ASME SB265?
A: Yes. ASME SB265 adopts the identical technical content of ASTM B265. Both are accepted for international orders.
