Grade 5 Titanium Forged Disc is a forged round disk made from Ti-6Al-4V , the most widely used titanium alloy. It is produced by hot forging to improve density, grain structure, and mechanical performance.

It has higher fatigue life and structural integrity, no porosity, better uniformity. It is superior to other titanium alloys in strength and toughness. The Grade 5 Titanium Forged Disc is suitable for aerospace, medical, and high-pressure applications

Hot Forging

Typically performed at 950–1100 °C using open-die or impression-die forging to form pancake preforms, followed by die forging into final disc shape. Forging refines the grain structure, eliminates internal porosity, and significantly improves fatigue life.

Heat Treatment

Annealing at 700–785 °C (holding + air cooling) is applied for stress relief and enhanced ductility to facilitate subsequent machining.

Finishing

CNC turning and milling are used to achieve tight dimensional tolerances. NDT is conducted to detect internal and external defects.

Q: What heat treatments are available? 

A: Annealed: Good ductility, easy machining, standard condition; Solution treated + aged (STA): Higher strength for critical parts

Q:Is Grade 5 titanium weldable?

A:  Yes, but requires proper shielding and process control. Forged discs are often welded in piping, flanges, and structural components.

Q: How to distinguish Grade 5 from Grade 2 Titanium Forged Disc?

A: Grade 2: pure titanium, softer, higher ductility, lower strength;

 

 Grade 5: alloy, much stronger, used for loadbearing forging.
