A titanium alloy cathode wire is a core discharge component used in equipment such as electrostatic precipitators and electrostatic demisters. It is based on titanium alloy (often combined with special coatings) and exhibits outstanding performance under harsh working conditions due to its excellent corrosion resistance and stable electrical properties.
I.Core Characteristics
1.Exceptional Corrosion Resistance
Titanium alloy itself possesses strong corrosion resistance, capable of withstanding erosion from various dilute acids, alkalis, salt media, and corrosive wet flue gases. It is suitable for harsh environments such as power plant desulfurization and chemical tail gas treatment, outperforming traditional stainless steel and lead alloy cathode wires. Some products also adopt MMO (Mixed Metal Oxide) coatings to further enhance corrosion resistance and electrocatalytic performance.
2.Superior Electrical Performance
It features low corona onset voltage, high breakdown voltage, and high current density (up to 1.5 mA/m² for some models), with strong ionization capacity. This enables efficient charging of dust particles, improving dust and mist removal efficiency. Additionally, its uniform electric field distribution ensures good adaptability to high-specific-resistance and fine-particle dust, reducing the risk of corona closure.
3.High Strength and Stability
Titanium alloy offers high strength, light weight, stable structure, and excellent tensile performance. It can adapt to high gas velocity working conditions of 2-4 m/s, resisting breakage and deformation. This avoids electric field short circuits caused by electrode damage and significantly reduces equipment maintenance frequency.
4.Easy Ash Cleaning and Long Service Life
Its surface properties provide strong resistance to dust adhesion, ensuring effective ash cleaning through rapping. The service life is typically about 3 times that of traditional stainless steel cathode wires, with some high-quality titanium alloy composite cathode wires lasting 8-10 years.
II.Common Types and Structures
1.Spike Type
Such as serrated spike wires and fishbone spike wires, which are mainstream types. They have a large tip curvature, generating intense discharge and high corona current, making them suitable for high-efficiency dust removal scenarios.
2.Wire Type
Such as spiral wires, featuring a relatively simple structure but slightly inferior discharge uniformity and intensity compared to spike types. They are applicable to certain specific electric field designs.
3.Frame Type
Composed of a titanium alloy frame and discharge tips, offering extremely high mechanical strength. It is suitable for high-gas-velocity and high-rapping working conditions in large-scale electrostatic precipitators.
III. Main Application Fields
1.Environmental Protection
Core applications include wet electrostatic precipitators and electrostatic demisters, used to treat dust-laden, mist-laden, and corrosive gases from power plants, steel mills, waste incineration plants, etc., achieving efficient removal of pollutants such as dust and acid mist.
2.Electrochemical Industry
Used as conductive electrodes in electroplating tanks to ensure uniform plating; also employed in electrolytic devices for sewage treatment to promote purification reactions. Additionally, in cathodic protection systems (e.g., marine engineering, oil and gas pipelines), it can prevent corrosion of metal structures.
3.Other Special Fields
Benefiting from titanium alloy's biocompatibility and stability, it has specific applications in some medical electrical equipment and high-end battery manufacturing.

IV. Installation and Maintenance Points
1.Installation
Strictly follow the electric field design to ensure uniform spacing between cathode wires and anode plates (tubes) and secure fixation. Avoid uneven electric fields or abnormal discharge caused by installation deviations, and prevent electric field short circuits due to wire breakage or detachment.
2.Maintenance
Regularly monitor electric field operating parameters (voltage, current), and efficiently remove ash using rapping devices to avoid corona closure caused by dust accumulation. For high-corrosion working conditions, regularly inspect the coating and base material of cathode wires, and replace aging components in a timely manner.

VI.Development Trends
Currently, titanium alloy cathode wires are developing towards compounding (e.g., titanium alloy base material + special functional coatings), structural optimization (e.g., new spike designs to improve discharge efficiency), and customization (designing special specifications for different working conditions). Meanwhile, intelligent manufacturing processes are adopted to enhance product precision and qualification rates, further reducing the total cost of ownership.
