Spandex, with its excellent elastic recovery performance, has become a core raw material for products such as underwear, sportswear, and medical bandages. Its production process is complex, covering high-temperature and high-pressure polymerization, precise temperature-controlled heat exchange, transportation of corrosive media, precision spinning molding, and other links, which imposes strict requirements on the corrosion resistance, heat resistance, and stability of equipment materials.

I.Spandex Polymerization Reactors

 

Titanium pipe fittings  are the core components of spandex polymerization reactors. The reaction uses polytetramethylene ether glycol (PTMEG) and diisocyanate (MDI) as raw materials and needs to be carried out in an environment of high temperature (above 100℃), high pressure, and strong corrosive media. II. Heat Exchangers

 

Temperature control is crucial for spandex production, and titanium pipe fittings in heat exchangers are the core "temperature regulators". The removal of polymerization heat release and the temperature control of spinning dope both rely on the efficient operation of heat exchangers. Traditional metal pipe fittings are prone to corrosion and scaling under alternating hot and cold conditions and medium erosion, which will reduce heat exchange efficiency. Titanium pipe fittings have excellent heat and corrosion resistance, and their inner surfaces are smooth and not easy to scale, which can maintain efficient heat exchange performance, control the temperature fluctuation of the reaction system within ±1.8℃, and ensure the stability of polymerization reaction and the uniformity of spinning dope quality.

 

III.Medium Transportation

 

Medium transportation is a key link in the entire spandex production process, and titanium pipe fittings are the core "guardians" to ensure transportation safety. The production requires the transportation of chemicals such as monomers, polymerizers, and solvents, including strong corrosive media such as dimethylacetamide (DMAC). Ordinary metal pipes are prone to corrosion and leakage, posing risks of raw material pollution and safety hazards. Titanium pipe fittings have excellent corrosion resistance, can meet the normal and high-temperature transportation needs of various media, and maintain the sealing and structural integrity of the pipes; in the solution dry spinning production line, they can also realize the precise and clean transportation of spinning dope from the mixing kettle to the spinning assembly, laying a solid foundation for spinning molding.

In the solution dry spinning process, relying on their advantages of smooth surface, not easy to accumulate impurities, and corrosion resistance, they are used for key connection and diversion of spinning assemblies. They not only prevent pollutants from contaminating the dope but also resist the erosion of high-temperature hot air and residual solvents in the shaft, ensuring uniform spinning, and reducing the coefficient of variation (CV value) of spandex yarn linear density to below 2.1%.

 

V. Filtration and Waste Liquid Recovery

 

In the filtration and waste liquid recovery filtration system, titanium pipe fittings do not react with media, are corrosion-resistant, and have no impurity precipitation, avoiding secondary pollution of spinning dope and ensuring stable filtration effect. In the waste liquid and unreacted monomer recovery system, titanium pipes can operate stably in harsh chemical environments, efficiently transport waste liquid containing residual solvents and monomers, help increase the solvent recovery rate to more than 92%, reduce raw material loss, and alleviate environmental pressure.

 

In addition, titanium pipe fittings are also used at the connection parts of chemical raw material storage containers, ensuring the safe and stable storage and transfer of raw materials with excellent sealing and corrosion resistance.
