Grade 5 titanium bar (Ti-6Al-4V, UNS R56400) is the most widely-used titanium raw material for manufacturing precision mechanical components, governed mainly by ASTM B348 and AMS 4928 standards.
Common product forms include round, square and flat bars. Centerless-ground bright bar is preferred for high-precision machining, while pickled or sand-blasted surfaces serve for rough-processing blanks.
Featuring high specific strength, good corrosion resistance, acceptable machinability and fatigue resistance, Grade 5 titanium bars are used as starting blanks for aerospace fasteners, medical hardware, sensor parts, valve components and high-end sports equipment.
