In the chemical industry, pipes are the core of medium transportation and energy exchange, and their performance is directly related to production efficiency, safety, and life-cycle costs. Titanium pipes has become core components of high-end chemical equipment, promoting the industry towards high efficiency, safety, and low-carbon upgrading.

I.Titanium Tubes Adapted to Chemical Operating Conditions

1. Ultimate Corrosion Resistance

A dense and self-repairable TiO₂ oxide film can naturally form on the surface of titanium, effectively isolating corrosive media like acids, alkalis, salts, and chloride ions. Titanium tubes perform excellently in highly corrosive scenarios with a service life several times to dozens of times longer than traditional pipes.

2. Excellent Mechanical and Heat Transfer Performance

Titanium tubes have a strength equivalent to that of stainless steel .The high specific strength can significantly reduce equipment weight and installation costs.

Its thermal conductivity is superior to that of stainless steel and copper. When combined with an enhanced heat transfer structure, the overall heat transfer coefficient (K value) can reach 800-1500 W/m²・℃, which is higher than that of traditional equipment, achieving efficient and energy-saving heat exchange.

Titanium tubes have a melting point as high as 1668℃, and some alloys can withstand temperatures of up to 500℃ for a short time without the risk of brittle fracture at low temperatures.

3. Environmental Friendliness and Long-Cycle Economy

Titanium alloys can be 100% recycled, with a carbon footprint 35% lower than that of traditional metal materials, in line with the global trend of carbon neutrality. From the perspective of life-cycle cost, although the initial purchase cost of titanium tubes is relatively high, their service life in corrosive operating conditions is much longer than that of traditional pipes.

II. Segmented Application Scenarios

1. Basic Chemical Industry

In the chlor-alkali industry, titanium tubes can withstand wet chlorine corrosion, with an annual corrosion rate of <0.01mm and a service life of more than 10 years. After replacing graphite tubes with titanium tubes, Allied Corporation in the United States extended the equipment service life from 2-3 years to more than 10 years; Shanghai Liaoyuan Chemical Industry adopted titanium coolers, saving 400,000 tons of water and 1,360 tons of sulfuric acid annually.

In sulfuric acid production, titanium tubes can handle high-temperature concentrated sulfuric acid, extending the equipment service life to more than 15 years and solving the problem of brittle fracture and leakage of graphite heat exchangers.

2. Petrochemical and Refining Industry

In high-sulfur, high-salt, high-temperature, and high-pressure oil refining equipment, titanium tubes have excellent resistance to sulfide corrosion and hydrogen embrittlement. In residue hydrotreating units, the heat exchange efficiency of titanium tube heat exchangers reaches 90%, and the equipment pressure drop is reduced by 30%; Hengli Petrochemical (Dalian)'s 1.5 million tons/year ethylene project uses TA10 titanium alloy seamless tubes as low-temperature ethylene transmission pipelines, avoiding the risk of brittle fracture of carbon steel tubes under the working condition of -101℃, with a single project consumption of 1,850 tons; the seawater desalination-cooling combined system supporting Saudi Aramco Jazan Refinery uses more than 6,200 tons of Ti-Gr2 welded tubes, serving the circulating water loop of 32 heat exchanger modules.

3. Fine Chemical and Pharmaceutical Industry

Fine chemical reactors and pharmaceutical antibiotic production equipment have strict requirements for medium purity and temperature stability. Titanium tubes are non-toxic and environmentally friendly, which can avoid medium contamination, and can maintain a constant temperature environment of ±0.5℃, improving reaction conversion rate.

In vinyl chloride production, titanium-lined equipment has no corrosion for nearly 10 years; in the milk pasteurization process, titanium tubes achieve UHT sterilization under 3MPa pressure, extending the product shelf life to 9 months and reducing energy consumption by 30%.

4. New Energy and Environmental Protection Chemical Industry

Emerging fields such as Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS) and hydrogen energy are driving the expansion of titanium tube applications. The Ti-0.3Mo-0.8Ni alloy has a corrosion rate of <0.01mm/a in a wet CO₂ environment, which is far superior to P110 carbon steel, and is expected to be applied on a large scale in projects such as Norway's Northern Lights and China's Shengli Oilfield CCUS demonstration project;
